Parks and Recreation

The Recreation Department, under the direction of Community Services Director Doug Roell, is pleased to offer summertime fun at the Veterans Memorial Pool located on Caroline Drive. Other times of the year our residents can enjoy twelve parks and recreational areas. The parks, locations, and features are listed below and the larger parks are marked on the map at the bottom of this page. The parks close at dusk and guests must be out of the parks before dark. Here are the Dates and Rates for the 2021 Season at Veterans Memorial Pool

Veteran’s Memorial Pool Is Open Now Through August 15th – 26 Caroline Avenue – Newport’s Clifton Neighborhood

 Veteran’s 2021 Pool Schedule and Rates:  Pool Season is from June 1st through Sunday, August 15th.

Hours: *

Sunday through Thursday operating hours are 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m.

Friday and Saturday operating hours are 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m.

 

*Pool will close early subject to Pool Parties & Penguins Swim/Dive Competitions

 

Pool Daily Fees:

Children 4 years and under                 FREE

Children 5 – 12 years old                     $3.00

Ages 13 – Adult                                    $3.00

Seniors (65) or older with an ID          FREE

Military with an ID                                FREE

 

Pool Passes:

Single Pass                                          $50.00

Family Pass                                         $150.00 Includes 5 household members

                                                                (additional family members $25.00)

Institutional Pass                                 $300.00 Includes 1 Adult and 10 children

 

Pool Parties:                                        $250.00 up to 75 People in the Pool

                                                              $300.00 over 75 People in the Pool

 

Private Pool Parties:

Friday and Saturdays: 8:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Sunday through Thursdays: 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Pavilion available one hour prior to Private Party

 

Recreation

The City Recreation Department and the Newport Recreation Commission partner together on a number of the events that are provided each year for the enjoyment of residents of all ages. Some of these special events include the Annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Memorial Day Parade and service, the Senior Picnic, the Veterans Day service, Monsters on Monmouth, and the Senior Lights and Sights Tour in December.
