NEWPORT - The Newport Police Department was honored at the recent Northern Kentucky Education Council Awards Ceremony for its exceptional contributions to education and community engagement.
The Newport Police Department was awarded the prestigious Business Engagement of the Year Award for its outstanding partnership with the Newport Independent School District.
Chief Chris Fangman of the Newport Police Department expressed immense pride in the collaboration between the police department and the school district.
"I could not be more proud of the partnership between the Newport Police Department and the Newport Independent School District," Chief Fangman said. "Our fantastic School Resource Officers, as well as all of our officers involved in the 'Big Brother/Sisters' program, go above and beyond to be important positive influences for the students and future leaders of our great city.”
“We are humbled just to be considered for the 'Excellence in Education Business Engagement Award.' With that said, I cannot even begin to express the pride we felt when we were advised that the Newport Police Department was selected as the award winner."
