Over the next few weeks, Madison Tree (hired contractor for the City of Newport) will be out doing work on street trees.
This is part of a proactive management program to care for our trees. This does NOT involve the removal of any trees - pruning only.
The City of Newport recognizes that trees are an important part of the City of Newport community, and critical to public health. In order to proactively care for them, the City has a proactive tree management program in place that ensures every street and park tree gets care on a regular basis. The City has been divided into 10 management zones, and each year thestreet and park trees in one zone are re-inventoried/assessed and later pruned. A map of the management zones is pictured below.
Work this year is in zones 5 and 6, located in the northern areas of the East Row. Please pay attention to no parking signs that will be posted 24 hours in advance, so we can ensure the contractors have the access they need.
Thank you for your assistance as we work to care for our trees!
