Legal Department

The City Legal Department is staffed by contract attorneys representing the City with regard to all legal matters.

Daniel R. Braun is the City Attorney. Dan has served in the Legal Department since 1982 and has been the City Attorney since 2009. His primary function is to represent the City and advise the Board of Commissioners, City Manager, and Department Managers on all legal matters relating to the City. His direct number is 859-292-3653. ( Newport City Attorney Daniel R. Braun is not the same person as Campbell County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) Daniel K. Braun. The PVA office is located at 1098 Monmouth.)

William Summe is the primary Assistant City Attorney. He has served in the Legal Department since 2023. His primary function concerns property-related issues. His direct number is 859-655-6358.

Michael Woloshin has been a part-time Assistant City Attorney since 2025. His primary function is legal counsel before various City Boards and Commissions. He can be reached at 859-491-7984.
